I was the only child in the family. We lived on a farm couple kilometers from Augsburg. It was a nice peaceful countryside near München.
When I was 17 years old, I moved to Frankfurt with my girlfriend Ida. I went to army in 1935 and got some good friends. i was exited since i had dreamed of being a soldier since i was 5 years old. Me and Ida got Married on 1st of November 1937. On December 21st 1938, Ida gave birth to two boys. I became a father.
On September 1st 1939. Hitler started the invasion of Poland. I was sent to 1. Infanterie-Division on September 15th 1939. Our division fought on Poland till May 1940 when we were transferred to France. I got plenty of Combat experience in France and Poland and i was soon promoted to the rank of OberGefreiter but I was lowered back to the rank of Grenadier cause i had some problems with the Officers, i was Transferred to Punishment battalion, where i got into the worst battles I've seen so far. In the punishment battalion i destroyed 13 tanks, and finally on 13th of February 1942, i got transferred into the Grossdeutschland division, the premier division of the German Army. I was with the best soldiers of the German army.

================================

Hans Schmidt was born in Helsinki, Finland to a rich merchant family. His parents were Anna Groß who was German and his father Werner Schmidt, a Finn who was German origin. Werner Schmidt owned a foodstore in the city center. When the Finnish civil war stared, Werner was one of the so-called Jägers who were sent to Germany for training. In Germany Werner met Anna Groß and they married after the war. They got son, Hans. Few years later, Hans's parents were pleased about the changes National Socialists had made in Germany, so they decided to move Hamburg, where Anna had relatives. In Hamburg, Anna and Werner had two children more, Walther and Paula.

1938 Anno Domini, Hans is 16 now. He's proud member of the Hitler-Jugend. Hans liked it, since he had always loved sports and the army. He's interested about laws and has thought about becoming a lawyer. Hans decided to give it a try and is now studying hard to make his dream come true. On the same time, Austria and Sudetenland came part of the dritte Reich. Year later Germany started war with Poland. Hans was 17 and was still too young for army and he was still at school. Germany began to march west on the spring of 1940. Hans heard radio saying that Luxembourg, Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Norway and even France didn't stand a chance against the mighty Wehrmacht, Luftwaffe and Kriegsmarine. Only the British commonwealth was still struggling against the axis. Germany wasn't able to land to England and started to plan attack to Soviet Union. On the summer of 1941 Operation Barbarossa began. Hans didn't believe his ears when he heard this from radio. He finally quitted the school and joined the army.

Training wasn't so hard to Hans since he loved sports and had gone hunting with his dad few times. In the January of 1942 he was thrown to the field, first with the 20. Motorized Inf.-Div. Hans thought that he will gain fame, medals, honour and maybe even some land after Soviets were defeated.
Hans's first battle was at Mahknovo and it was his first time to see a dead man. He was first shocked, but got used to it since seeing them became daily.

A year later, after a heavy battle Hans and some other guys got lost and were founded by few SS-troops who told them that their unit has been wiped out. SS-Commander said that Hans and his friends are now under his command and part of the 4. SS-Division. They had no other choice. Hans fought with the SS for some time until he and few others were send to the 72. Inf.-Division. There Hans got letter from his friend who was fightning with the famous Großdeutschland-Division where only the best men were. With the help of an officer who was Hans's mate he managed to get the papers for transfer. Now, Hans is again fightning for his Vaterland against the scum in the East.
________________

Story based on my experience in RO realism community.
Let me know if I need to fix it for the year 1941.
Also, I'm not sure if I have the tank assault badge or the war service cross so I just didn't put them to the list. ( I think we should update the medals to more correct anyway Razz )

And by the way, the name Hans Schmidt is not from the book about that one W-SS soldier.
